Our beautiful and spacious cottage is nestled in the woods just a few minutes from the ferry dock and town of LaPointe. Clean and comfortable with new flooring, an updated bathroom, a well equipped kitchen, and splendidly appointed bedding make this home stand out among the inland rental properties.
The cottage is available year round and has comfortable in-floor heat on both levels. A screened in porch, a private outdoor shower and the patio off the back of the cottage with a built in fire pit will allow you to enjoy the stay no matter what the weather.
We are just minutes from the public beaches and a 15 minute drive to the large Big Bay Beach at the State or Town Park.
This is a fabulous space for either a cozy couples get-away or for families with children!
The first floor features a great living room, a clean and well-equipped kitchen and a dining area with beautiful views of the woods out the picture windows. There is a newly updated 3/4 bath, laundry and a bedroom with a desk and sleeper sofa. The screen porch off the dining area is a wonderful place to relax.
Our kitchens are equipped with quality pots and pans, cutlery, blender, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, utensils, dishes, glassware, and charcoal bbq grill. Guests must bring all food, beverages, and condiments (including salt & pepper, ketchup, mustard, oils, etc. — per WI laws these items must be removed after each rental.)
Upstairs there is the master bedroom with queen size bed and balcony overlooking the woods. There is a gorgeous full bathroom with clawfoot bathtub and separate shower, a 2nd bedroom with a queen size bed, and a 3rd room with two twin beds and a double futon bed.

Our stay in Matt and Heather's cabin was amazing! It had lots of space for the 6 of us to spread out, great amenities (the outdoor shower and fully stocked kitchen were excellent!), a great location, and the hosts were quick to respond to our few questions. It was magical to be eating breakfast and watch a family of deer walk by or to see woodpeckers in the trees. Thank you for such a beautiful cabin!

Our stay was fantastic. Beautiful home, gorgeous wooded surroundings, quiet and peaceful. We loved every minute. We spent a lot of time on the spacious screened porch and on the patio. The bathrooms! So nice, very well done, we felt spoiled. Very comfortable bedrooms, and the kids were tickled pink with their “own” room with skylights to see the stars and lots to do. We love Madeline, this was our first stay in a rental on the island and it was wonderful. Thank you!

This place was everything we needed!! Somehow spacious and quaint, being tucked away in the woods gave us peace and solitude and was also great for the kids to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave. The screened-in porch was our favorite place to hang out and we loved sitting in the backyard. The beds were comfortable and their kitchen had everything we needed. 10/10 recommend.

Lazy Feather was the perfect way to unplug and relax for a long weekend. Beautifully decorated with all of the comforts of home. Wonderful to see the deer come by early in the am and just before sunset.

The home was perfect for two adults and 4 older children, plenty of space and very nicely laid out. Weather was a bit more humid than other visits but a couple rooms had AC which was not expected but much appreciated! Everything was nicely labeled and we had no troubles finding anything in the house. Heather greeted us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour. Home is located just out of town, very easy to find. I would highly recommend. We have stayed at several homes on the island. This is at the top of the list!

“As soon as you pull up to Lazy Feather you realize the house is the perfect compliment to Madeline Island itself. It’s cozy, comfortable, and has lots of character and beauty. Newly renovated throughout, we couldn’t believe how good we had it in the great outdoors! The house itself is all about existing within the beautiful wooded landscape that surrounds it with windows in every room that kept us feeling connected to the outside, even on a cold day when it was just as nice to stay in with a cup of tea. The open space living area created the perfect setting for the whole family to relax and connect and the charming kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. One highlight is the lovely screened in porch that brought us out to enjoy meals while spotting a deer or two enjoying theirs as well.
Upstairs boasts two lovely, well appointed bedrooms, a large open room with lovely views of the surrounding trees from the skylights, and a bathroom with all the amenities, right down to the claw foot bathtub (don’t’ miss this experience – delightful!). The lower level offers a quiet study, bathroom and laundry/mud room giving the house plenty of space and offering opportunities to be together or snuggle up with a good book solo. You can tell a lot of love and care has gone into creating a house that manages to bring together a well appointed space with all the modern creature comforts, with one that honors a deep respect for the natural beauty and wildness of the island. Minutes from town it was also a great place for the kids to ride their bikes and we look forward to coming back in the summer when we can rent some kayaks and hit the waterfront. Definitely one of the most lovely rentals on the island. Thank you!”
